Example:

Irrational thinking

Activating Event: You are told by your boss that he/she is really unhappy with your work.
Belief: I'm a failure.
Consequence: Anxiety and depression.

Rational thinking

Activating Event: You are told by your boss that he/she is really unhappy with your work.
Belief: I did my best.
Consequence: Disappointed, but confident things will get better.

Now think about the following incidents and explore ways of irrational and rational thinking

Activating Event 1:      You have got a bad grade in the exam.

Activating Event 2:      The train you need is one hour late.

Activating Event 3:      There are people laughing loudly at the table next to you.

Activating Event 4:      A woman stares at you and smiles.

Activating Event 5:      You have to give a presentation in front of some very important people.
